I am a principal investigator at the Institute for Hygiene and Applied Immunology, with a background in molecular biology (MSc), virology (PhD) and immunology (PostDoc). My group studies the human immune system in health and disease, with focus on the biology of the myeloid cells, monocytes and macrophages in particular.
I can offer you:
- an inside look into research and scientific work (including job shadowing, if requested)
- help with good scientific practices and methodologies in research and advice on academic skills (writing of scientific papers and grant proposals, giving scientific presentations, planning scientific studies, etc.)
- advice on how to build an academic career, including doing the research abroad, and work-personal life balance
- supervision of your internship or diploma thesis.
Since I am not a clinician, I cannot offer clinical traineeships (Famulaturen).
Ich biete auch das Thema "Studieren mit Kind" an.
- Interest in research
- Curiosity
- Open discussion
Every 4-6 weeks, 1-2 hours, on the MedUni campus or nearby. The schedule can be adapted, upon mutual agreement.
During my career I experienced research in several scientific fields (immunology, virology, molecular biology and cancer research), and lived in several European countries. I am happy to share my experiences and provide an insight how to pursue an academic career path in life sciences.
I aspire to mentor the students of The Molecular Precision Medicine Master’s Programme or motivated students of the Medicine or Dentistry Degree Programmes who consider the clinician-scientist career path.
